Once upon a time, there was a tiny, tiny, rural campsite...
We are Alessia and Enrico, two agronomists who have come to Maremma to achieve the family and work dream. As many years ago the inns were for travellers, we want to be the point of arrival and stay for those of you who have a tent, a camper, a caravan ... and for those who have nothing ... we can provide the tent. We tell you our story through our work in the fields and the local cuisine ... and we will willingly listen to you to find common interests and experiences. The area used for agricamping is located in the heart of the farm near the family farmhouse.
The pitches are all flanked with open views of the asparagus fields and surrounding hills. They have a straw screen on three sides and have a large space with shade and anti-algae cloth on the ground that helps keep the area clean. Each is served by convenient electricity points. We have drinking water both in the farmhouse and in the outdoor area.
The bathrooms are located inside the farmhouse, each with a shower, sink and toilet (free hot water) so that you can have all the home comforts and not have the inconvenience that some people encounter in large campsites.
Guests are always welcomed by someone from our family, who will be happy to give you information, show you around the communal areas and help provide local tourist material (maps, trails, historical and natural beauty sites, festivals, typical events, etc.).
Guests can take advantage of special paths within the farm with access to vantage points from which you can admire the sea with the Scoglio delle Formiche, the island of Giannutri and the Tower of Ansedonia.
Sightings of wild animals are frequent in the early morning and at dusk: deer, wild boars, porcupines, hares, foxes, hedgehogs, hawks, herons, partridges, bee-eaters, etc. In summer, in some periods, fireflies light up the dark sky.
An archaeological peculiarity: part of the farm boundaries follow the path of the ancient Roman centuriation, dating back to about two thousand years ago, that is the boundary system with which the Romans organized the agricultural territory of the cosanus (some signs indicate the part ).
As shown by the many finds found nearby,we inherited the ancient work of working the land to grow vegetables, cereals and oil from the Etruscans and the Ancient Romans. Passion, determination, tradition and innovation are the elements that we put in every day to achieve rural excellence (video interview with Alessia Brunori). We are part of a consortium of farmers, "Ori di Toscana", all our production is consumed within the Tuscany Region.
Asparagus is currently our main crop, along with a niche product that is the "string bean" (the only bean originally from the Euro-Asian area).
Our company logo is like a "selfie": the farm with the farmhouse is our job, the two big cypresses are us (Alessia and Enrico) and the smaller cypresses are the three children (Filippo, Francesca, Sofia) ; Capalbio dominates from above with its walls and medieval towers.
Our products and those of the territory are the ingredients of simple and wholesome meals that we cook for ourselves and our guests, following the changing seasons in the fields. The recipes are linked to the local tradition such as "acquacotta" ... which really expresses the whole history of these lands torn from the marshes and which we serve in the local bread. The Tortello stuffed with ricotta and spinach and Tagliatelle here in Maremma are an institution with the typical condiment, a tasty and intense ragù, the result of long cooking and excellent meat. You will often find on our Taglieri or wooden serving boards "fried ciaccine" that accompany cured meats and cheeses from the territory with our vegetables.
We serve a few good wines in the area, relying on the red vines of Sangiovese and Ciliegiolo and on the white ones of Ansonica and Vermentino.
Limited places and family organisation in the kitchen always require a reservation the day before.
The camping is located very close to the sea (1.5 km as the crow flies, 3 km by car), in an area characterized by an ancient rural tradition and protected areas. We are in the middle of the Valle d'oro (archaeological park project and landscape www.valledorogiardino.com) about 2 km from the remains of the Roman Villa of Settefinestre (III century A.C). The nearest beach is Playa La Torba to the north which ends about 13 km of sandy and wild beach almost entirely free of charge (in Capalbio there are only 3 accesses to the sea and here you can find small and well-kept bathing establishments with all services and comforts).
