Once upon a time, there was a tiny, tiny, rural campsite...
Capalbio Rural Camping is the brainchild of Alessia and Enrico, we are two agronomists moved to Maremma to fulfill both their professional and family dreams.
The area assigned to the campsite has been set up in the heart of the farm near the main farm house. The square shaped pitches are each 100 sqm and are located next to a row of trees with an uninterrupted view of the Tuscan countryside. The toilets and showers are located inside the next door farm house (free hot water).
Guests are always welcomed by us personally, we provide the first information, we show the common areas and tourist material of our territory (maps, trails, historical and natural sites, festivals, traditional events, etc.).
The guests can take advantage of the various walks on the farm that take in scenic view points where you can admire the sea, the well known ‘Scoglio delle Formiche’, the island of Giannutri, and Ansedonia Tower.
It is often possible to see deer, wild boar, porcupines, hares, foxes, and hawks, herons, partridges, bee-eaters, etc. In summer in some periods the fireflies light up in the dark.
The farm spreads over 20 hectares of plains and undulating hills in the area of Capalbio in Tuscany. It produces vegetables, mainly tomatoes and asparagus. Passion, determination, tradition and innovation are the elements that make the our farm a rural excellence (video interview with Alessia Brunori). We are part of a consortium of farmers, “Ori di Toscana”, all our production is consumed within the Tuscany region. The our logo symbolizes our life: the farm and the farm house, the two Cypress trees are we (Alessia and Enrico) and the small cypress trees our 3 children (Filippo. Francesca, Sofia).
Our products and those of the area are the ingredients of simple, wholesome meals we cook for ourselves and guests following the changing seasons in the field. The recipes are linked to the tradition of the territory, such as acquacotta that really expresses the history of these lands.
We have a limited number of places, also the agri-dining is organized family type, so we have to request a reservation well in advance.
The farm campsite is very close to the sea (1.5 km as the crow flies, 3km by car) in a protected area known for it’s antique, rural traditions. In the middle of Valle d’Oro (progetto parco archeologico e paesaggistico www.valledorogiardino.com) and approximately 2 km away from the remains of the Roman villa ‘Settefinestre’. The nearest beach is Playa la Torba which is 3 km by car, where you can find both a free beach as well as a private beach Stabilimento Frigidaire’ that rents beach beds and umbrellas.
